Beyond the vineyard - McLaren Vale

The McLaren Vale area is located about 40 kilometres south of Adelaide and connected by excellent roads.

Travelling time from Adelaide by car is around 30-40 minutes. The area has many natural features and attractions, but the wine industry has been the primary focus for many years. McLaren Vale region was amongst the first to be used for vineyards in South Australia after European settlement and today is a significant wine producing area in the international arena.

Here are a few things to see and do in McLaren Vale. First, you must start at the Visitors Centre on the main road on the way in to town. Here they can provide you with all the latest information, maps of the area as well as being able to taste and learn about wines like ours. How about soaking up the atmosphere of the many cellar doors by sharing a wine tasting with friends and knowledgeable staff? Another of the great delights is discovering the abundance and variety of regional produce. Visit one of the many restaurants or perhaps the Willunga producers market open each Saturday morning or The Olive Groves or Artel Crafts & Gallery. If it's art you're interested in, be sure to visit Slate Gallery in Willunga or for something different phone artist Roe Gartelmann (8556 7351) and visit her Magpie Springs Studio on top of Willunga Hill.
