The wine making side of our business is hands on and boutique, using open fermenters, basket press, lots of barriques and no stainless steel.

James Halliday once described our wines as "being made in the vineyard". We liked that and our recent medal tally suggests it is not a bad place to make them.

Our wines, we believe enhance the pleasure of eating, their flavours cohabitate with good food, they don't dominate but they are also not subservient. They are partners in the culinary experience, truly "Wines Made for Eating"


2008 Cabernet“ Cabernet Sauvignon 86%, Cabernet Franc 14%- 100% Estate Grown

Colour:

Deep brick red with hints of purple hues.
Aroma:A spicy mint forefront with nuances of subtle oak in the background.
Palate:

An abundance of concentrated berry spice fruit flavours with a hint of mint. Careful aging in selected American Oak barriques has preserved the strong varietal fruit characters, yet produced a very comlex, well integrated palate structure with underlying oak and long firm tannin finish.

2008 Shiraz 100% Estate Grown

Colour:

Rich dark ruby red with purple hues.
Aroma:Lifted berry & pepper spice fruit aromas with lingering smoky vanillin oak
Palate:

A fruit driven style showing intense berry and black currant varietal characters with a silky smooth vanillin oak mouth-feel, yet the finish is long and firm.

2008 Tempranillo 100% Estate Grown

Colour:

Intensely dark ruby red with vivid violet hues.
Aroma:Lifted fresh fruity aromas of black cherry and spicy herbs.
Palate:

Spicy cherry fruit flavours with a very rich mid palate mouth feel and smooth long tannins. The use of old barriques has preserved the distinct varietal fruit characteristics of this wine. A powerful fruit driven style.

2009 Cabernet Franc

Colour:


Deep brick red with hints of purple hues.

Aroma:Lifted spicy aroma of mint & berry fruit with a hint of oak vanillin in the background.
Palate:

The aromas carry through to the palate which amplifies the intense berry fruit & spicy flavours that keep lingering on. A medium bodied structure with fine long grained tannins. Concentrated flavours add to the wines overall complexity. This wine is ready to drink now, but will benefit with extended careful cellaring.

2010 Viognier 100% Estate Grown

Colour:

Brilliant deep straw with green hues.
Aroma:An abundance of fresh lemon & lime fruit aromas with slight hint of dried apricots in the background.
Palate:

 

A sophisticated flavour profile of fresh citrus in the foreground, leading to slightly more developed honey-like characters with hints of vanillin oak in the mid palate which then transpose into very long lasting flavours of dried apricot and pears.

Medium to pale straw with distinct green tinges.
Aroma:Abundance of fresh ripe apricots & peaches complemented by a subtle hint of oak in the background.
Palate:

A fruit driven style free of malolactic butteriness. Strong peach & citrus fresh fruit flavours, generous mid palate enhanced by a hint of oak. All wrapped up with a clean acid finish.

Vibrant Ruby Red
Aroma:Softy Winter berry fruits with a background of savoury character.
Palate:

 

Generous fruit flavours, medium weight, quite mouth filling and a long finish with gentle tannins. A very pleasant 'drink now' wine.

2011 FAT 'n Skinny Winemaker's Blend - Chardonnay/Viognier Blend

Colour:

Bright straw
Aroma:A touch of the fruit basket but predominantly rock melons, musk and green apples plus a waft of orange blossom. 
Palate:

 

A balanced showing of peaches, apricots and melons with a good length of flavour and a clean finish.  The sort of wine that is just right for a Sunday afternoon.

2011 FAT 'n Skinny Rose - Blend of Shiraz, Tempranillo and Mourvedre

Pink to Pale Red
Aroma:A hint of strawberries over winter fruits and earthy characters.
Palate:

 

A mid-weight palate hinting of blackberries and strawberries, balanced with an interisting savoury touch, coming to a clean crisp finish.  Made for a platter of Italian meats, cheeses, olives, tomatoes and a long afternoon.
